Almaty has a big potential for new housing developments. Apartment blocks were designed, at the center of the city, on the intersection of two main axes. Blocks consisting of luxury apartment flats and duplexes have front facades facing towards the city center while other facades face the landscaped internal green area. Blocks are arranged to make the most efficient land use. Design elements which meet with social, cultural and climatic references of Kazakhstan were incorporated and local building codes and regulations of the government were used. The first two levels on the front façade were planned as a shopping center, while a social building was designed on the landscaped zone.
