The main concern in the design was redesigning the existing huge building, remaining in the city silhouette for tens of years as a dark ruin, without tearing it down, to properly suit its environment and the city silhouette. Architectural references, details and proportions of the surrounding is used as basis and the façade of more than 200m length is treated as if it consists of various different buildings, built at different times. Partial extensions to the structure and partial demolitions are designed, to break the continuity of the façade line in plan and in elevation. A Street is planned at the fourth basement level in between the blocks, to suit the local requirements and to create access to the residences in the lower block and to the public facilities in the hotel such as ball room, meeting rooms and health Spa. TAM prepared the interior design, too, but at a later stage the Client preferred to change his interior design concept and the designer.
